Description
Assuming that a participatory pedagogy is more appropriate for the overall development of the child and for teaching in a diverse school, this paper investigates why an education supported by the standardization of methods and programs is so prevailing in Portuguese schools. The study is based on the guiding principles of Case Studies and aims to analyze the contributions of three programme of Continuing Education as enhancers of the changing of practices. The results emerging from the interviewees pointed out for an insufficient training for the practice of participatory education and for the importance of subject fragmentation as a constraining factor.
