We want to investigate how we can use musical repetition to construct a musical universe that can be always new. Using the musical cycle named Glosa from the Portuguese composer Jorge Peixinho, we want to show how he uses different musical materials, ideas and instruments to construct a musical discourse that’s are repetitive and uses always the same musical material. Then we want to analyse the consequences of the performative possibility conceded by Peixinho that’s permit to play one, two, or few of those works at the same time on the same performance. Superposing different musical works the composer and the performer must realise that the musical universe that results from that action is every time different on its sound, form, gestures and emphasis too. Finally we want to show how that musical cycle can be perceived as a musical commentary.
