Numa altura em que o Facebook se encontra no primeiro lugar do top das páginas acedidas em
Portugal, urge aprofundar o estudo das redes sociais existentes e investigar quem é, afinal, o utilizador
português destes ambientes e qual a sua perceção sobre as mesmas. Este estudo, em fase de
desenvolvimento, centra as suas atenções numa rede social de aprendizagem de línguas, Livemocha, líder
a nível mundial na sua categoria, de acordo com os dados de tráfego www.alexa.com. O presente artigo
apresenta este site, descreve brevemente o seu funcionamento e enquadra algumas investigações
realizadas até ao momento. Apresenta, de seguida, os resultados parciais da investigação em curso. At a time when Facebook is the most accessed page in Portugal, it's important to deepen the study of the existing social networks and to investigate who is, after all, the Portuguese user of these
environments and what is his perception of them. This study, currently under development, focuses its
attention on a social network for learning languages, Livemocha, worldwide leader in this segment
according to www.alexa.com traffic data. This article presents this site, describes it briefly and summarises
some investigations to date. It features, afterwards, the partial results of the on-going investigation.
