Description
The main objective of this study is to identify the experimental conditions that favor the production of bi-oil from pyrolisis of polypropylene (PP) coming from the scrapping of end-of-life vehicles. The experimental conditions tested were: initial pressure (2.1 to 10.3 bar), temperature (350 to 430ºC) and reaction time (1 to 900 s). The study reveals that the conditions that increase the rate of conversation of PP into liquid fraction (>80%) correspond to an initia pressure of 50 psi (3,45 bar), a temperature of 400ºC and a reaction time 15 minutes. All products obtained, gases, liquids and solids, were characterized and analysed by gas chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
