Este artigo visa analisar alguns dos temas centrais resultantes da pesquisa conduzida na área do turismo e identificar padrões emergentes de investigação. Neste contexto, foram identificados quatro temas principais que reflectem o impacto do desenvolvimento do turismo ao nível das percepções das comunidades de acolhimento, das viagens e destinos, das recordações e lembranças, e do planeamento turístico. O artigo termina com a apresentação das principais implicações dos temas analisados para as políticas de desenvolvimento do turismo. The aim of this paper is to analyse some of the central themes resulting from research conducted in the field of tourism as well as to identify emerging patterns in the research. To achieve this aim, four main themes were identified which reflected the host communities’ perception towards the impact of tourism development, the decision on travel and destinations, souvenirs and artefacts, and tourism planning. The paper concludes with a summary of the key implications of the themes analysed for the development of tourism policies.
