Eugénio de Castro's book of poems, A Mantilha de Medronhos (Coimbra, 1923), the only work entirely dedicated to his travel memories in a foreign country, is here analysed in an attempt to place those notes, memories and dedications within the Spanish cultural and political context of the 1920s, the period in which the 25 sonnets that constitute the work were written.
