The objective of this work was to compare Doppler flows pulsatility index (PI) and resistance indexes (RI) of uterine and internal iliac arteries during pregnancy in low risk women and in those with stage-1 essential hypertension. From January 2010 and December 2012, a longitudinal and prospective study was carried out in 103 singleton uneventful pregnancies (72 low-risk pregnancies and 31 with stage 1 essentia...

He was observed in the Gastroenterology Department for the presence of recurrent episodes of vomiting (bilious and/or fecaloides) with one year of development, preceded by pallor, sweating, sense of abdominal pain and abdominal swelling. Recently the episodes occur every week. The abdominal Computed Tomography (CT) showed megacolon compatib...
We present a case of a 6-year-old child in whom a chest x-ray is performed for a respiratory infection. An inverted comma opacity was seen in the right upper lobe, typical of an azygos fissure. This is one of the numerous anatomic variants of the azygos vein.
We present a case of a six-year old child with wrist pain after sustaining trauma the previous day. The x-ray revealed a torus fracture of the distal radio metaphysis. The torus fracture is one of the fractures occurring in the immature skeleton. Some specific types of children fractures are described as well as the value of the imaging techniques for the diagnosis.
ABSTRACT We present a case of a four year-old child with a second episode of iron deficiency anaemia. Following fever, cough and hemoptysis a chest X-ray and chest CT were performed. Bilateral and patchy areas of ground glass and consolidation were noted in the setting of intrapulmonary hemorrhage. The final diagnosis was idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis.
ABSTRACT We present the case of a 5 year old asmathic girl admitted to the hospital for acute non traumatic edema and crepitus of the face, neck and upper thorax. Thoracic x-ray (not shown) and thoracic and neck CT were performed, showing extensive subcutaneous and mediastinal enfisema. These are rare complications of asthma. The imaging features are described.
We present a case of an 11 year old girl in whom an x-ray of the vertebral column was performed to investigate back pain. Spine x-ray showed spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis at L5-S1. Spondylolylis is one of the most common causes of back pain in older children and adolescents. The diagnosis is usually made by x-ray and/or CT.
We present a case of a 15-year-old boy in whom an x-ray of the vertebral column was performed to investigate dorsal hipercyphosis. The exam showed partial block vertebrae in D8-D9. Block vertebrae may be congenital or acquired, partial or complete. Most of the times it is an incidental x-ray finding.
