Dispersion and uncertainty in multislit matter wave diffraction

Glionna, G.; Blin, A. H.; Hiller, B.; Nemes, M. C.; Sampaio, Marcos; Piza, A. F. R. de Toledo

We show that single and multislit experiments involving matter waves may be constructed to assess dispersively generated correlations between the position and momentum of a single free particle. These correlations give rise to position dependent phases which develop dynamically as a result of dispersion and may play an important role in the interference patterns. To the extent that initial transverse coherence ...

OZI violating eight-quark interactions as a thermometer for chiral transitions

Osipov, A. A.; Hiller, B.; Moreira, J.; Blin, A. H.

This work is a follow-up of our recent observation that in the SU(3) flavor limit with vanishing current quark masses the temperature for the chiral transition is substantially reduced by adding eight-quark interactions to the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio Lagrangian with UA(1) breaking. Here we generalize the case to realistic light and strange quark masses and confirm our prior result. Additionally, we demonstrate that ...

Gauge invariance and the CPT and Lorentz violating induced Chern–Simons-like te...

Scarpelli, A.; Sampaio, Marcos; Nemes, M.; Hiller, B.

Abstract The radiative induction of the CPT and Lorentz violating Chern–Simons (CS) term is reassessed. The massless and massive models are studied. Special attention is given to the preservation of gauge symmetry at higher orders in the background vector b µ when radiative corrections are considered. Both the study of the odd and even parity sectors of the complete vacuum polarization tensor at one-loop ord...

Event-by-event fluctuations of transverse momentum and multiparticle clusters i...

Florkowski,W.; Broniowski,W.; Hiller,B.; Bozek,P.

We analyze the event-by-event fluctuations of mean transverse momentum measured recently by the PHENIX and STAR Collaborations at RHIC. We argue that the observed scaling of strength of dynamical fluctuations with the inverse number of particles can be naturally explained by formation of multiparticle clusters.

Effects of eight-quark interactions on the hadronic vacuum and mass spectra of ...

Osipov, A. A.; Hiller, B.; Blin, A. H.; Providência, J. da

The combined effective low energy QCD Lagrangians of Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) and 't Hooft are supplemented with eight-quark interactions. This work is a follow-up of recent findings, namely (i) the six quark flavour determinant 't Hooft term destabilizes the NJL vacuum, (ii) the addition of a chiral invariant eight-fermion contact term renders the ground state of the theory globally stable; (iii) stability con...

Dynamical chiral symmetry breaking by a magnetic field and multi-quark interact...

Osipov, A. A.; Hiller, B.; Blin, A. H.; Providência, J. da

Catalysis of dynamical symmetry breaking by a constant magnetic field in (3+1) dimensions is considered. We use the three flavour Nambu-Jona-Lasinio type model with 't Hooft and eight-quark interaction terms. It is shown that the multi-quark interactions introduce new additional features to this phenomenon: (a) the local minimum of the effective potential catalyzed by the constant magnetic field is smoothed out...

Lowering the critical temperature with eight-quark interactions

Osipov, A. A.; Hiller, B.; Moreira, J.; Blin, A. H.; Providência, J. da

It is shown that eight-quark interactions, which are needed to stabilize the ground state of the combined three flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio and 't Hooft Lagrangians, play also an important role in determining the critical temperature at which transitions occur from the dynamically broken chiral phase to the symmetric phase. ; http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6TVN-4MY0MF1-3/1/aafd91fae9368b31ad1a25...

Multi-quark interactions with a globally stable vacuum

Osipov, A. A.; Hiller, B.; Providência, J. da

It is shown that U(3)L×U(3)R eight-quark interactions stabilize the asymmetric ground state of the well-known model with four-quark Nambu-Jona-Lasinio and six-quark 't Hooft interactions. The result remains when the reduced SU(3) flavour symmetry is explicitly broken by the general current quark mass term with . ; http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6TVN-4J554P4-1/1/dfc257ebb68f9d0785afc0d0426a4516

Stationary phase corrections in the process of bosonization of multi-quark inte...

Osipov, A. A.; Hiller, B.; Moreira, J.; Blin, A. H.

Abstract The functional integration over the auxiliary bosonic variables of cubic order related with the effective action of the Nambu–Jona–Lasinio model with ’t Hooft term has recently been obtained in the form of a loop expansion. Even numbers of loops contribute to the action, while odd numbers of loops are assigned to the measure. We consider the two-loop corrections and analyse their effect on the low-lyi...

Long distance expansion for the NJL model with SU(3) and UA(1) breaking

Osipov, A. A.; Hansen, H.; Hiller, B.

This work is a follow up of recent investigations, where we study the implications of a generalized heat kernel expansion, constructed to incorporate non-perturbatively the effects of a non-commutative quark mass matrix in a fully covariant way at each order of the expansion. As underlying Lagrangian we use the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model of QCD, with SUf(3) and UA(1) breaking, the latter generated by the 't Hooft...
