Cardiovascular disease is among the leading causes of death in the world. Grafts are usually used to treat these diseases by redirecting blood flow around occluded vessels. We previously showed bacterial cellulose (BC) is a suitable artificial alternative to commonly used autologous grafts. We found that the addition of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) improves the mechanical properties of BC. For cardiovascular applica...
Prova tipográfica (In Press) ; Eight dyes were prepared by diazotisation of substituted amino-cyano pyrazoles and coupling to anilines or 2-naphthol. The dyes were fully characterised by spectroscopic techniques. The cyano group of the pyrazoles was found to be susceptible to hydrolysis during preparation.
Proton and carbon-13 NMR studies in solution and carbon-13 CP-MAS NMR in the solid state of a polymorphic azo dye derived from 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole were performed and the results are discussed and compared with theoretical data from quantum chemical calculations. The polymorphism of this compound has conformational character, two conformers coexist in CDCl3 solution and in solid state, as shown by NMR.
