Nitric oxide (NO) is involved in the pathogenesis of acute and chronic inflammatory conditions, namely in allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). However, the mechanism by which NO acts in ACD remains elusive. The present study focuses on the effects of different contact sensitizers (2,4-dinitrofluorbenzene, 1,4-phenylenediamine, nickel sulfate), the inactive analogue of DNFB, 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene, and two irrit...
The excited states in 193Ir populated by the beta- decay of 193Os were investigated via gamma-gamma coincidence analysis. Three levels at 517, 563 and 621 keV, previsouly seen only in nuclear reaction studies, were observed in the present measurements; the 487 keV transition from the 849 keV level was identified, providing good evidence that the levels at 848.93 and 849.083 keV are the same. The level at 807 ke...
We have revisited the low-energy calculation of odd Z 155Eu in the frame of a semi-microscopic formalism as a support for the interpretation of the experimental results for the multipole mixing ratios of some electromagnetic transitions. The deformation parameters were obtained through a macroscopic-microscopic method, and the proton single particle levels, calculated with realistic Woods-Saxon potential were u...
Chemokines are involved in the control of dendritic cell (DC) trafficking, which is critical for the immune response, namely in allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). In this work, we investigated by flow cytometry the effect of the contact sensitizers 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB), 1,4-phenylenediamine (PPD) and nickel sulfate (NiSO4), on the surface expression of the chemokine receptors CCR6 and CXCR4 in DC. As...
A method of analysis for gamma angular correlation experiments was developed for the case of a multi-detector setup, tested with several known sources of radiation, and applied in the decay of the 155Eu nucleus. The method has shown good reliability. This method was applied for five cascades for the transitional nucleus 155Eu and produced the following results: delta(65 keV) = 0.09(11), delta(203 keV) = -0.44(1...
The propagation of the struck proton through the nuclear medium is studied in the semi-classical multicolli-sional internuclear cascade approach. The probability of formation of various residual nucleus configurations and the corresponding excitation energies were obtained as a function of the energy omega transferred to the proton by the knockout.
The ratio of the differential cross sections for the reactions 7 Li(p, 2p)6 He and 7 Li(p, pn)6 Li, at incident proton energy of 70 MeV, were analyzed in the framework of DWT approach. FSI and off-shell contributions were factorized and compared with appropriate experimental data.
We examined the conversion of L-[3H]arginine to L-[3H]citrulline in lysate from rat thymocytes, which was dependent on Ca2+and cofactors (FAD, BH4, NADPH). Removal of Ca2+of the medium, reduced the total L-[3H]citrulline formation by about 97%. The L-[3H]citrulline formation was completely inhibited by the NO synthase inhibitors, NG-nitro-L-arginine and NG-monomethyl-L-arginine, with values for IC50of 1.2 [mu]M...
We present results of theoretical calculations together with simulations for some observables of the reaction <img SRC="http://www.bireme.br/img/fbpe/bjp/v27n3/image369.gif" WIDTH="56" HEIGHT="19">at energies close to the threshold. This approach allows the selection of the set of observables and the best kinematical conditions in order to probe different potentials. The simulations used the parameters of the f...
