We investigated dendrite shaped superstructures made of two different QDs, namely CdSe/ZnS and CdTe. Due to the dense packing of QDs, Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) may compete with deexcitation, and the specific dendrite shaped structure suggests the possibility of funneling of excitation from the edges of the structure to the center.
This paper presents the main characteristics and functionalities of a system based on image processing techniques applied to quality assessment of yarns. In Textile Industry we used image processing to determine yarn mass parameters as well as yarn production characteristics. A low cost solution based on a web-pc camera plus the optics of a low cost analogue microscope and a software tool based on IMAQ Vision ...
Materials exhibiting large optical nonlinearities continue to be the subject of intense studies because of their potential applications in modern communication technologies involving optical data processing, transmission, or storage, where they are gradually replacing classical electronic devices.[1] Earlier we reported on the synthesis and evaluation of thermal, redox and NLO properties of donor-acceptor subst...
In this paper is presented a fabrication process for obtaining refractive microlenses arrays with high reproducibility and low cost. This process was specifically optimized for the AZ4562 photoresist. Functional prototypes of microlenses arrays with dimensions in the range of 30 m, 4.9 mm and 5 m for width, length and thickness, respectively, were fabricated and tested. The pre-thermal reflow spacing between ...
Recent measurements using two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2D ES) have shown that the initial dynamic response of photosynthetic proteins can involve quantum coherence. We show how electronic coherence can be differentiated from vibrational coherence in 2D ES. On that basis we conclude that both electronic and vibrational coherences are observed in the phycobiliprotein light-harvesting complex PC645 fro...
The title compound, C11H12N2O2 3C6H5NO3, comprises a zwitterionic amino acid formed by two nearly planar groups: (i) the indole ring and C , and (ii) the carboxyl group, C , as well as the amine N atom, with r.m.s. deviations of 0.0084 and 0.0038 A ˚ , respectively. The angle between these idealized planes is 39.47 (9) . The amine group of the amino acid is in a syn ( sc) arrangement relative to the ring system...
A new hybrid organic–inorganic non-linear optical crystalline material, L-argininium perrhenate has been synthesized. The crystal belongs to P212121 space group, has a good optical quality and high transmission in the visible and near infra-red spectral regions. L-argininium perrhenate has high birefringence and is more than four times as efficient as KDP in second harmonic generation, making it a potentially a...
This chapter presents the main characteristics and functionalities nof two systems based on image processing techniques applied to Textile Industry and Biomedicine.
A series of novel donor-acceptor chromophores designed to have good second order nonlinear optical responses has been synthesized and characterized. This series of compounds was designed to explore the consequence of using different electron accepting moieties which were linked through an arylthiophene bridge to a pyrrole heterocycle that plays the role of an auxiliary donor group. These new push-pull chromopho...
Two series of novel push-pull heterocyclic azo dyes have been synthesized and characterized. The two series of compounds were based on different combinations of π-conjugated bridges (bithiophene and thienylpyrrole) which also act simultaneously as donor groups, together with diazo(benzo)thiazolyl as acceptor moieties. Their thermal stability and electrochemical behavior were characterized, while hyper-Rayleigh ...
