The present work describes the synthesis of a series of platinum(IV) complexes with N-benzyl 1,3-propanediamine derivatives. Since substitution of the axial ligands in the platinum(IV) complexes may alter their pharmacological properties, we have prepared complexes with different groups, such as hydroxide, chloride and acetate using a sequence of substitution reactions. The resulting complexes were fully charac...
This manuscript describes a technique to perform comparisons on agile methods, based on a set of relevant features and attributes. This set includes attributes related to four SWEBOK Knowledge Areas (KAs) and to the Agile Manifesto principles. With this set of attributes, by analyzing the practices proposed by each method, we are able to assess (1) the coverage degree for the considered KAs and (2) the agility ...
This manuscript describes a technique and its tool support to perform comparisons on agile methods, based on a set of relevant features and attributes. This set includes attributes related to four IEEE’s Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) Knowledge Areas (KAs) and to the agile principles defined in the Agile Manifesto. With this set of attributes, by analysing the practices proposed by each method,...
A series of diamines and amino alcohols derived from 1-dodecanol, 1-tetradecanol, 1,2-dodecanediol and 1,2-tetradecanediol were synthesized and tested for their antitubercular activity. Compounds 3, 8 and 9 were found to be the most active (MIC of 6.25 ¼g/mL). Nine other compounds displayed activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with a MIC of 12.5 ¼g/mL.
A series of 13 compounds analogous of isoniazid condensed with carbohydrate was synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv using Alamar Blue susceptibility test and the activity expressed as the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC90) in μg/mL. Several compounds exhibited antitubercular activity (0.31-3.12 μg/mL) when compared with fir...
N-monoalkylated diamines were synthesised and treated with D-ribonolactone or D-gluconolactone. The resulting aldonamides were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, E. coli, M. tuberculosis and C. albicans. Two hydrazides were also prepared from ribonohydrazide and their biological activity was compared to their amide analogues. All the ribono-derivatives displayed moderated antitubercul...
In an attempt to reduce toxicity and widen the spectrum of activity of cisplatin and its analogues, much attention has been focused on designing new platinum complexes. This work reports the synthesis and characterization of novel compounds of the platinum (II) and platinum (IV) containing 2-furoic hydrazide acid and iodide as ligands. Although the prepared compounds do not present the classical structure of bi...
This work describes the synthesis and characterization of eleven new platinum(II) complexes having ligands derived from 1,2-phenylenediamine, N-benzyl ethylenediamine and 2- or 4-picoline. The complexes were prepared in satisfactory yields by reaction of K2[PtCl4] with the appropriate ligand. The cytotoxic pre-screening of one of these complexes in seven human cancer cell lines showed that this compound is much...
Platinum (II) complexes, for example, cisplatin and carboplatin, have been used as chemotherapeutic agents for the treatment of various types of cancer. Several other complexes of this metallic ion are also under clinical evaluation. This work describes the synthesis of five new platinum (II) complexes having furan and 5-nitrofuran derivatives and chloride as ligands. The compounds were characterized by NMR, IR...
