Description
Some questions were raised during the study of the myth of Heracles/Hercules, such as which qualities (moral or others) have subsisted in the literary texts that have reached us and which were used by contemporary culture, not only literary expressions (related to/with several genres, such as poetry, literature for children and youths, etc.) but also in the plastic ones or others (like cinema). We'll see that intelligence and sensibility of Hercules was apprehended, both in ancient literature and statues, as well in his representations and contemporary recreation, unveiling a hero with philosophic worries, and, on the other hand, that his images of extreme strenght became fossilized in more popular expressions of art and that this hero's histrionic dimension managed to earn him sympathy. An Herakles Philosophos opposes to a Herakles Epitrapezios, or maybe not. A hero that becomes a god and is included among the dii indigetes, but that also stays close to human beings.
