O presente trabalho corresponde ao relatório do estágio em edição realizado
no Departamento Editorial das Edições Afrontamento durante quatro meses (1
de novembro de 2010 a 28 de fevereiro de 2011). Este período foi alargado até
15 de março de 2011, por necessidade de completar algumas tarefas que
estavam sobre a minha responsabilidade.
Após um enquadramento relativo à edição, ao livro e ao processo editorial
português, esboça-se, na segunda parte deste relatório, a história de uma casa
editora ao longo de quase 50 anos e apresenta-se a sua organização atual.
Para além disso, explora-se o catálogo e as coleções.
Na terceira parte, aborda-se a cadeia de valor do livro e os métodos de
trabalho utilizados nas diferentes áreas do processo editorial pelas Edições
Afrontamento, lançando-se uma ponte de ligação às atividades e tarefas
desenvolvidas durante o estágio (abordagem teórica e prática).
De seguida, apresenta-se uma breve reflexão crítica sobre a experiência de
profissionalização e as dificuldades inerentes.
Em jeito de conclusão, tecem-se algumas considerações sobre a editora, os
seus recursos humanos e a sua capacidade de reinvenção ao longo do tempo. The core of this work is the report of the traineeship in publishing held at the
editorial department of Edições Afrontamento from 1st November 2010 to 28th
February 2011. This period was later extended to 15th March to allow for the
conclusion of the tasks I was directly responsible for.
After a short contextualization regarding the publishing procedures, the book,
and the Portuguese publishing process, the nearly fifty years of the history of
Edições Afrontamento is outlined in the second part of this report, along with its
present organization, catalogue and collections.
In the third part, the chain of value of the book is then described, as well as the
work methods and procedures used in the different areas by the publishing
staff of Edições Afrontamento. A rapport with the activities and tasks carried out
during the traineeship (theoretical and practical approach) will be established
step by step.
A brief critical reflection about the internship in publishing and all inherent
difficulties will be presented thereafter. As a conclusion, some considerations
concerning the publishing house, the management of human resources and its
self-reinventing ability in the publishing context through times will be made. Mestrado em Estudos Editoriais
