O presente Projecto de Mestrado em Tradução Especializada da Universidade de Aveiro associa a Tradução ao domínio da Microbiologia. Assim, o trabalho aqui apresentado, consiste na tradução de um artigo científico da revista científica PLoS Pathogens publicada pela Public Library of Science nos Estados Unidos - Nutrient availability as a mechanism for selection of antibiotic tolerant Pseudomonas aeruginosa within the CF airway – e a subsequente reflexão sobre os vários aspectos inerentes a essa tradução. O presente projecto desenrolou-se em três fases essenciais. Numa primeira fase, procedeu-se à tradução de um artigo científico cuja tecnicidade, a nível do vocabulário, exigiu a criação de um glossário. Numa segunda fase, foram descritas algumas das estratégias, técnicas, critérios e ferramentas de tradução utilizadas durante o processo de tradução. Finalmente, apresenta-se uma reflexão crítica sobre os conteúdos abordados no relatório e os desafios particulares que esta temática representa para o tradutor. The opportunity to relate translation with the microbiology domain proved to be an interesting project to develop in the Masters in Specialized Translation in the University of Aveiro. This conjugation between the topic and translation was ideal to apply the know-how acquired throughout the Degree and Masters courses. In my case, the work was based on the translation of a scientific article from the PLoS Pathogens peer-reviewed journal published by the Public Library of Science: Nutrient availability as a mechanism for selection of antibiotic tolerant Pseudomonas aeruginosa within the CF airway, which surprisingly matched the subject I had devised. The report is essentially divided into three phases. Firstly, we have translated a scientific article which contains quite technical language, requiring the development of a glossary for this area. Secondly, we have described the various strategies, techniques, criteria and translation tools used in the translation process. Finally the reader will find my critical reflection on the contents of this report and the specific challenges this thematic represents to translators. Mestrado em Tradução Especializada
