Description
O silêncio é uma noção complexa, na medida em que encerra um número
infinito de definições. Sendo, pois, um termo multifacetado, manifesta-se nas
mais diversas áreas do saber. Contudo, é na sua possível definição literária –
já que não existem definições definitivas e conclusivas – que ele nos interessa,
uma vez que nos propomos de analisar a obra romanesca de Jules
Supervielle. O silêncio, assim entendido, equivale a um acto discursivo –
intencional ou não – que suscita uma ou mais interpretações, porque
comunica e veicula sempre uma mensagem. Apreende-se, então, que cada
caso é um caso e que cada obra literária que integre o silêncio nos dá,
seguramente, dele uma noção, uma representação e um significado
particulares. Assim, e segundo a análise dos romances de Supervielle que
levámos a cabo, podemos constatar que o silêncio e o inexprimível integram,
indubitavelmente, o universo romanesco do autor, mas que eles se manifestam
quer pela ausência, quer pela presença das palavras. Silence is a complex concept as it embraces na uncoutable number of
definitions. As a multifaceted term, we can observe its manifestation within
several different areas of knowlwdgw. However, the interest for this study is the
willing to verbalise the literary definition – beacause there is no such thing as a
definitive and determined definition – therefore we proposed ourselves to stydy
Jules Supervielle’s novels. Thus, silence in literature tantamount to a discursive
act – intentional or not – it leads us to one or many other interpretations.
Silence communicates and it always carries a message. Hence, we understand
that any work that integrates silence in its diegetic universe will certainly give us
a particular notion of what it is, represents and means. In conclusion, the
analysis of Supervielle’s novels allows us to affirm unequivocally that silence
and the inexpressible manifests in the author’s literary universe: it is a silence
that shows its evidence trough the absence and the presence of words. Mestrado em Estudos Franceses
