Este trabalho propõe-se a analisar a velhice na obra literária de Maria Judite
de Carvalho, procurando traçar um perfil das suas velhas personagens
femininas, protagonistas quase exclusivas dos contos e crónicas onde o tema
é abordado. As transformações físicas e psicológicas decorrentes da
passagem do tempo, assim como a deterioração das relações familiares e
sociais que acompanham o advento da velhice, culminam, nos textos de Maria
Judite, numa profunda solidão e desinteresse pelo mundo, em que estas
mulheres se sentem a mais e são constantemente acusadas da sua condição
de velhas. Pessimismo, crueldade, revolta, angústia e tristeza são sentimentos
recorrentes nos textos de Maria Judite de Carvalho e que, consequentemente,
pautam a existência das suas personagens. This work considers analyzing the old age in the literary composition of Maria
Judite de Carvalho, looking for to trace a profile of its old feminine characters,
almost exclusive protagonists of short stories and chronicles where the subject
is boarded. Physical and psychological transformations in the course of time,
as well as the deterioration of the familiar and social relations that follow the
advent of the oldness, culminate, in the texts of Maria Judite, in a deep solitude
and uninterest for the world, where these women feel too much and are
constantly accused with their condition of old. Pessimism, cruelty, revolt,
anguish and sadness are recurrent feelings in the texts of Maria Judite de
