Os centros urbanos históricos são espaços dinâmicos, aos quais é atribuído
um elevado valor patrimonial, e que assumem um papel fundamental na
estrutura das cidades. Crescentemente, a sua reabilitação e reconversão
desperta preocupações diversas às quais urge dar resposta, enquadradas em
determinados contextos de interpretações da história e do património.
Os habitantes e utilizadores destes espaços devem ser elementos-chave
nestes processos de mudança, e neste sentido entende-se que as imagens e
percepções que constroem dos centros históricos devem ter um papel
importante na preservação dos mesmos.
Assim sendo, o presente trabalho propõe-se analisar a percepção que um
grupo de pessoas construiu acerca do centro histórico da cidade de Trancoso.
Para tal, recorreu-se à aplicação da metodologia de photo-elicitation e de
scenario visualisation, que permitiu confrontar estas pessoas com diversos
cenários de intervenção urbana relativos a um conjunto de espaços do centro
histórico, os quais foram apresentados num questionário e posteriormente
numa entrevista, Estes cenários resultam da manipulação de fotografias, que
tiveram por base a situação actual do espaço e pretendiam mostrar eventuais
intervenções. Esta dissertação discute assim estas várias formas de ver e de
pensar o centro histórico de Trancoso.
ABSTRACT: Historical urban centres are dynamic spaces, to which rich heritage value is
attributed. They assume a critical role in the structure of cities, and
increasingly, various rehabilitation and reconversion processes, framed within
specific interpretations of history and heritage, raise various concerns which
need answers.
The inhabitants and users of these spaces should be key elements in these
processes of change, therefore it is understood that the images and
perceptions that make historical centres must have an important role in their
preservation.
Accordingly, the present work analyzes the perceptions that a group of people
construct in relation to the historical centre of the city of Trancoso, Portugal.
Consequently, the methodologies of photo-elicitation and scenario visualisation
were used, and that allowed confronting these people with diverse urban
intervention scenarios, regarding a number of spaces of the historical centre,
which were presented in the form of a questionnaire and later in an interview.
These scenarios are the result of photographs’ manipulation, which were based
on the current situation of the spaces and intended to illustrate eventual
interventions. This dissertation discusses these various ways of seeing and
