Locating cells in histological images using active shape models
Description
Digital image analysis is being increasingly used in many application areas. This paper presents a study of the Active Shape Models and their application for locating cells in histological images.The paper begins with the choice of the class of objects to bemodelled including their variations. It follows with the description of the statistical modelling technique and the iterative updating algorithm used to locate corresponding objects within the target image. The paper concludes with a results section where segmented nuclei and cytoplasm are presented within a set of different target images. A análise digital de imagem tem vindo a assumir um papel importante no desenvolvimento de diversas áreas.O presente artigo apresenta um estudo das técnicas de análisedigital de imagens baseadas nos conceitos de forma activa erespectiva aplicação na localização de células em imagenshistológicas.O artigo começa por estabelecer qual a classe de objectos amodelar e quais as variações que estes pode ter. Segue-se adescrição da técnica de modelação estatística e do algoritmode actualização usado para localizar os objectos em imagensalvo . Para finalizar são expostos os resultados obtidos, com aaplicação dos modelos construídos na segmentação de núcleoe citoplasma em várias imagens alvo.
