Dissertação de Mestrado em Estudos da Criança - Área de Especialização em Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação É verdade que desde os primórdios da humanidade estamos dependentes das tecnologias, mas hoje mais do que nunca isso se verifica. São exemplo disso, o telemóvel e o Messenger. Estas duas recentes e populares tecnologias de informação e comunicação da sociedade contemporânea cativaram as crianças não sendo, por isso, de estranhar o modo apaixonado como utilizam e manipulam no quotidiano estas tecnologias que privilegiam a escrita. Enquanto actores sociais, as crianças assumem um papel pioneiro no que diz respeito às tendências tecnológicas em voga na sociedade de consumo globalizada. Contudo, a forma como as crianças usam estas tecnologias na gestão do dia-a-dia comunicacional e relacional é, ainda, pouco documentada cientificamente. Há uma nova geração, com características de mobilidade e interactividade próprias, cujo quotidiano, subordinado às novas tecnologias, assenta numa forma de comunicar, relacionar e viver ainda desconhecido para nós. Este estudo quantitativo visa estudar como crianças do 5º e 6º ano de duas escolas do distrito de Braga utilizam o telemóvel e o Messenger; aferir se são dependentes destes meios de comunicação; e verificar se as características sóciodemográficas têm alguma influência na utilização destas tecnologias. It is true that from the origins of the humanity we are dependent on the technologies, but today that happens more than ever. The mobile phone and the Messenger, two of the most recent and popular information and communication technologies of the contemporary society are an example of that. They fascinate children and, therefore, it is not strange the way they use and manipulate in everyday life these technologies that privilege the writing. While social actors, children assume a pioneer role concerning the technological tendencies of nowadays globalized consumption society. Nevertheless, the way children use these technologies in the management of day to day communicational and relational life is still very little scientifically documented. There is a new generation, which everyday life is subordinated to the new technologies, with its own characteristics of mobility and interactivity and a way of communicating, relating and living, still unknown for us. This quantitative research aims to study how children of the 5th and 6th grade from two schools on the district of Braga use the mobile phone and the Messenger; to check if they are dependants of these media; and verify if social-demographic characteristics influence in the use of these technologies.
