Description
Le bocage de la région du Minho, au nord-ouest du Portugal, a des traits spécifiques. Installé dans une région qui hésite entre les influences méditerranéennes et atlantiques, il est dépourvu de pommiers mais ses haies comportent des oliviers et des orangers. Souvent sur des pentes, très étroites, sans étage buissonnier ou talus, longeant souvent des terrasses ou un réseau d'irrigation, elles sont surtout formées de vigne poussant sur et entre les arbres et, une fois taillées, deviennent presque invisibles pendant l'hiver. L'évolution de l'agriculture et des structures sociales locales ne justifie plus l'existence de ce bocage mais, bien que n'étant pas identifié en tant que paysage ou « patrimoine » original et cohérent, il pourra se maintenir si la production domestique de vinho verde se prolonge. The "bocage" of the Minho region, in northwestern Portugal, possesses specific traits. Set in a region which hesitates between mediterranean and atlantic influences, he has no apple-trees but its hedges include olive and orange-trees. Often on slopes, very narrow, without bushy level or banks, often lining an irrigation network or terraces, they are mostly formed by vine and, once pruned, turn almost invisible in the winter. The evolution of agriculture and of local social structures does not justify the existence of this "bocage" any longer, but in spite of not being identified as an original and coherent landscape or "heritage", it will be able to last if the domestic production of vinho verde lingers.
