Descrição
Apresentação em poster Composite materials consisting of carbon nanotubes dispersed in a insulating polymer material have been receiving increased interest in many fields of application such as optics, electronics, medicine. Carbon nanotubes (CNT), because of their symmetry and unique electronic structure, can act as metallic or semiconducting material depending on the chiral vector orientation. Adding a small percentage in weight of CNT to an insulator polymer, we can control the electrical conductivity of the polymer matrix. In this work we create different spatial distributions of CNT within an insulating polymer film placed between two planar metallic electrodes, with different length/radius ratio, concentration and orientation relative to the electrodes surface. By applying different bias voltages between the electrodes, we simulate charge injection and transport throughout the polymer-CNT composites using a generalised time-dependent Monte Carlo method and assess the effect of different length/radius ratio, concentration and orientation of the CNT on the electrical characteristics (electric current versus applied bias voltage) of the composite films.
