Dissertação de mestrado em Sociologia da Infância A presente dissertação de Mestrado enquadra-se na Sociologia da Infância; procura enfatizar a ideia de criança como actor social, reflexivo e crítico e construtora de sua própria cultura junto do grupo de pares e dos adultos. Foi intenção, dar voz a crianças muitas vezes estigmatizadas, olhá-las de uma outra forma e saber como (re) constroem suas identidades no quotidiano, tempos livres e lazer, num contexto próprio. Depois de uma revisão bibliográfica assente primordialmente nas bases teóricas da Sociologia da Infância realizou-se um estudo de caso etnográfico recorrendo à observação participante e à realização de algumas entrevistas. Constata-se que as crianças em estudo têm dificuldades em possuírem figuras de vinculação dentro da instituição mas que apesar de serem crianças com problemas de abandono, maus tratos, negligência, problemas socioeconómicos, …etc., ainda é na maioria das situações a MÃE que surge como principal figura de vinculação, sendo que o PAI, está quase sempre ausente entre os casos que se estudou. As relações entre pares são muitas vezes complicadas e conflituosas assim como, com os adultos, havendo no entanto algumas excepções, nomeadamente com alguns Técnicos. Estas crianças procuram construir seus projectos de vida dentro da Instituição, e é aí, que constroem suas identidades pessoais e sociais ao longo do tempo, conseguem partilhar afectos e sentimentos e, quando não regressam às suas famílias, por variadíssimas razões, encontram na Instituição, a base para um futuro seguro e mais risonho. This Master dissertation is framed within the theoretical field of Sociology of Childhood; it emphasizes the idea of the child as a social actor, reflexive and critical and builder of his/her own culture near their group of pairs and adults. It was our intention, to give voice to the children many times stigmatised, and look at them through other lens and to know how they (re)built their identities in the daily, free times and leisure, within their own context. After the literature review, which was essentially based in the Sociology of Childhood theory, it took place an ethnographic study case appealing to the participant observation and realisation of some interviews. As a result of the empirical study, we could see that those children have many difficulties in having binding figures inside the Institution. Despite all the neglected, abuse, negligence and social-economic problems that these children went through. the majority of them still refer the MOTHER as a principal bind figure, and the FATHER for the majority of children studied is not present. The relationships between pairs are most of the times complicated and quarrelsome like as well as with adults, despite this there are some exceptions with specific elements within the institution. Those children want to build and find their own life projects inside the Institution and this is the context where they build their personal and social identities along time, they share affections and feelings and if they do not return to their families for many reasons they find within the Institution, the basis for a safety and much smiling future.
