Lesões nodulares esplénicas no cão

O baço pode ser afectado por diversas patologias que resultam em lesões nodulares. Os sinais clínicos destas lesões são normalmente inespecíficos sendo a sintomatologia, a anamnese, o exame físico, e os exames complementares essenciais para detectar a presença da massa esplénica e orientar o diagnóstico. A esplenectomia é o tratamento de eleição na maior parte dos casos e o diagnóstico definitivo é dado pela análise histológica do nódulo. A presente tese de mestrado tem como objectivo o estudo de lesões nodulares esplénicas que tive oportunidade de observar durante o período de estágio curricular que decorreu na Clínica Veterinária da Póvoa, de 1 de Outubro de 2010 a 31 de Janeiro de 2011. Durante este período foram observados três cães que se apresentaram à consulta com sintomatologia inespecífica como anorexia e cansaço. À palpação abdominal detectou-se a presença de uma massa na região do abdómen cranial. A hematologia e a bioquímica sérica resultaram inconclusivas, tendo o exame ecográfico revelado a presença de uma massa no baço de características nodulares, optando-se pela esplenectomia nos três casos. Os exames histológicos confirmaram a presença de hiperplasia nodular e lipossarcoma num dos casos e hemangiossarcoma e linfoma nos restantes. Em todos os casos, a evolução clínica foi favorável, não havendo registo de recidivas durante os 5 meses que se seguiram à cirurgia. The spleen can be affected by different pathologies that result in nodular lesions. The clinical signs of these lesions are normally non-specific, being the symptomatology, the anamnesis, the physical examination and the complementary tests essential to detect the presence of the splenic mass and to guide diagnosis. Splenectomy is the treatment of choice in the majority of cases and the definitive diagnosis is made by the histological analysis of the nodule. The present master's thesis aims to study the nodular lesions that i had the opportunity to observe during the internship that took place at the Clínica Veterinária da Póvoa, from 1st of October 2010 until the 31st of January 2011. During this period were observed three dogs that were brought to consultation with non-specific symptomatology such as anorexia and tiredness. During abdominal palpation it was detected the presence of a mass in the cranial abdominal region. The hematology and the serum biochemistry resulted inconclusive, having the ultrasound examination revealed the presence of a splenic mass with nodular characteristics; splenectomy was performed in all three cases. The histological examination confirmed the presence of nodular hyperplasia and liposarcoma in one of the cases and hemangiosarcoma and lymphoma in the remaining. In all cases the clinical evolution was favorable, without records of relapses during the 5 months after the performed surgeries.
