Neste trabalho, a autora tem como objetivo alertar os alunos e toda a comunidade escolar para o conhecimento e preservação do património ferroviário. Fundamenta o seu estudo tendo como base a Animação Sociocultural, servindo-se dos métodos desta para reavivar um passado, por si só caído em esquecimento. Desenvolveu um projeto pedagógico: uma visita de estudo e uma exposição de fotografia. Utilizou um inquérito com o objetivo de comparar o conhecimento dos alunos antes e depois de uma visita de estudo, envolvendo-os na construção do seu conhecimento através de fichas de observação e levou-os a intervirem junto das entidades responsáveis. Desta forma, procurou que os seus alunos se tornassem cidadãos participativos na defesa do legado histórico. Do mesmo modo, foram fundamentadas todas as possíveis opções e apresentadas as conclusões. The main purpose and aims of this study are to call the attention not only of the students involved but also the whole school community to the knowledge and preservation of the railway heritage. The author based her study on “Socio-Cultural Animation” using its own methods to enhance an already forgotten past. As accomplishment, a pedagogic project was developed, a study tour and a photographic exhibition. A questionnaire was also used to compare the students’ knowledge before and after the tour, engaging them in the process itself through observation sheets and as such having their own interference with the responsible entities. Thus, the students became participatory citizens and engaged in the historical legacy. All the study options and conclusions were grounded and presented.
