Descrição
Tese de mestrado, Museologia e museografia, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Belas Artes, 2012 This work is the high point of a cycle. It was a cycle that began in visual communication classes and went on to include many hours of research, sharing and ideas. It ends here. The first part of this dissertation tells the story of Lagoa Henriques almost in novel form, as a way of illustrating the fascination of a life: from childhood to ever after, from student to teacher and from apprentice to master. It is based on personal interviews and bibliographical research. The second part projects this life onto the theoretical substantiation of collecting and recounts the development of this concept in the history of museology and in the story of Lagoa Henriques himself. It organises and stratifies the collections and compiles an inventory. In the third, and last, part, the high point of this collector's life is honoured in the form of a plan for a Lagoa Henriques House Museum, while blending it into the general theory of this type of museological facility. Real and imagined factors are combined in an academic epitome. The final idea, common to the tree parts, is a tribute that we feel does justice to a Man, an Artist, a Teacher, a Museologist and a Collector. And because each life deserves to be celebrated, this man's life adds artistic value to everyone who knew him. He celebrated the gift of existence both uniquely and universally
