Descrição
Tese de mestrado, Educação artística, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Belas Artes, 2013 This essay focuses around the subject of Public Art as an educational resource, by analyzing a total of five public sculptures in the district of Moita, from whose is given some proposals of pedagogical aproach. The selected pieces belong to artists João Afra, Lagoa Henriques, Fernanda Fragateiro, Jorge Pé Curto and Pedro Miranda Silva, and have been implemented between 1993 e 2001. The used methodology bases itself on documental research, having the analysis of documents essentially falled the concept of Public Art and some pedagogical theories that support the presented proposals. Also a documental surveying of the sculptures has been made, alloying its classification according to four ratings: Description; initiative/financing; localization/surroundings; intentionality. Qualitative data has been collected, through semi-structured interviews to the sculptors and to two teachers (pre-school and primary school). The presented pedagogical approaches rely on strategies that privilege the dialogue with the work of art, and have as primary goal to promote a more intense fulfillment of Public Art, developing the careful observation and critical sense. It's also intended that, from the dialogue between past and present, to give a contribution to local history knowledge, stimulating the interest for cultural and natural heritage and a conscious appropriation of patrimony
