Description
The present study is addressed to the the business sector of metalworking, with varied scenarios performances in terms of design, trying to identify them either from historical point of view, both in terms of strategies for the future. In order to counter the prejudice that is felt around this industrial line, while subdued industry needs of the past and that if he had set in motion with a view to the construction of infrastructure associated with the railway industrial development and electrification of the territory, we present with this investigation, cases in which the level of design intent had differentiating consequences for businesses and identities that they promoted. This dissertation gathers in the first analysis to historical information about the metalworking industry in order to contextualize the subject of study and retrospectively, establishes a connection with the cultural and social role of design. We recognize that the work of a designer, in this or in another type of industry doesn't not confine strictly to the development of strategies related to marketing and communication. Manage the complexity of today's world involves the mastery of divergent and transverse tools, being in this sense that the discipline of design can emerge as key element of an entity planning, both at the level of communication with the outside world as the integration of functions, disciplines, new markets, new organizational methods and attention to issues related to each product it sells. Still, we reinforced that this investigative work is the relationship that may be established between the design and the engineering industry, relying essentially on concrete examples of national enterprises, as a way to discover new market directions and lines of future action for this industry, namely in the field of design
