A presente dissertação tem como temática “A perceção do apoio social versus estado de saúde dos idosos no concelho de Mangualde”, tendo como principal objetivo empírico verificar a perceção dos idosos em relação à rede do suporte social e do seu estado de saúde.
Na sua singularidade, este trabalho pretende abordar o envelhecimento, as políticas sociais e a perceção dos idosos sobre o apoio social e o seu estado de saúde, mas também integrá-los no campo das ciências sociais e sobretudo na sua intervenção social.
Nesta perspetiva foi realizada uma investigação empírica para aferir a perceção do idoso sobre o apoio social e o seu estado de saúde, procurando estabelecer relações e perceber os seus significados.
As variáveis estudadas são as sociodemográficas e duas de conteúdo: saúde e apoio social, variáveis independentes e dependentes.
É um estudo transversal, descritivo, correlacional e de tipo quantitativo. Sendo que o seu desenvolvimento se divide em três partes: a primeira, constituída pela fundamentação teórica, aborda os principais conceitos; a segunda, constituída pela descrição dos procedimentos metodológicos que foram adotados; por fim a última parte apresenta o tratamento, análise e interpretação dos resultados obtidos empiricamente.
Para concretizar o estudo, analisámos uma amostra de 98 idosos do concelho de Mangualde, pertencente ao distrito de Viseu, através da técnica do questionário que foi aplicado durante os meses de março e abril de 2013.
Verificou-se que o apoio social tem influência na perceção de saúde que o idoso faz. Quanto maior nível de apoio social o idoso percecione maior será a sua perceção em relação ao seu estado de saúde. This dissertation has as its theme "The perception of social support versus health status of the elderly in the municipality of Viseu", having as main objective empirical verify the perception of older people in relation to the network of social support and their state of health.
In its uniqueness, this work aims to address aging, social policy and the perception of the elderly on social support and their state of health, but also integrate them in the social sciences and especially in its social intervention.
This perspective was conducted an empirical investigation to assess the perception of the elderly on social support and their state of health, seeking to establish relationships and understand their meanings.
The variables are the sociodemographic and two content: health and social care, independent and dependent variables.
It is a cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational and quantitative type. Since its development is divided into three parts: the first consists of the theoretical framework addresses the key concepts, and the second consists of the description of methodological procedures that were adopted and finally the last part shows the processing, analysis and interpretation of results obtained empirically.
To achieve this study, we examined a sample of 98 elderly people in the county of Viseu, belonging to the district of Viseu, through the technique of the questionnaire that was applied during the months of March and April 2013.
It was found that social support influences the perception of health that the elderly do. The higher level of social support the elderly percecione higher your perception regarding their health status.
