Descrição
Dissertação de Mestrado em Psicologia Clínica, apresentada ao ISPA - Instituto Universitário ABSTRACT: The morbidity and anguish present in the works of Edvard Munch are the result of events that have accompanied him since childhood and throughout his life; works which have led him to become one of the pioneers of the expressionist movement in the late nineteenth century, having been recognized by critics of European art as one of the greatest modern painters. In this context, the goal of this study is to analyze the life and work of the artist, based on the Dead Mother Complex as theorized by André Green. Through this theory, an attempt is made to understand his psychic functioning in diverse life situations and as a reflection of his art, in which themes such as love, loss and death are frequently approached, based on his infancy as a direct influence of his development.
