Os imigrantes são-tomenses, particularmente mulheres em diáspora, enfrentam frequentes dificuldades na integração precoce, mas ao longo do tempo e entre gerações, esse processo é geralmente bem-sucedido. Este estudo resulta da recolha de informação privilegiada entre o contingente feminino são-tomense com residência na área metropolitana do Porto, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com membros da Associação Cívica de São Tomé. Da investigação em curso, antevê-se que a maioria das queixas incide sobre a interpretabilidade da lei e sua usurpação por parte de quem recebe os imigrantes. Paralelamente, a crescente burocratização associada às Instituições que o Estado Português disponibiliza para superintender a entrada dos imigrantes em território nacional revela-se extremamente danosa, vincando nos seus percursos de vida as vulnerabilidades decorrentes do processo migratório. Sao Tomean immigrants, particularly women in the diaspora, frequent face difficulties in early integration, but over time and between generations, this process is usually successful. This study resulted from the collection of privileged information among the Sao Tome women residing in the metropolitan area of Porto, through semi-structured interviews with members of the Sao Tome Civic Association. In the ongoing investigation, it’s anticipated that most complaints relate to the interpretability of the law and its usurpation by the persons who receive immigrants. Simultaneously, the growing bureaucracy associated with the Institutions that Portuguese Government provide to supervise the entry of immigrants in the country seems to be extremely harmful, perpetuating in their life courses the vulnerabilities resulting from the migration process.
