Description
Individual vulnerability to stress emerges as a predictive factor of a higher risk of developing major psychiatric pathologies and stress-related disorders. The Stress Vulnerability Questionnaire-23QVS (Vaz-Serra, 2000) is a self-report questionnaire composed of 23 questions to measure individual vulnerability to stress as a trait and not a state. No prior research has used the 23QVS in Russian-speaking immigrants, a different population than that with which the scale was originally developed. In the present study, the factor structure, reliability, and validity of a Russian version of 23QVS were tested with a sample of 555 Russian-speaking immigrants residing in Portugal. Confirmatory factor analyses support the 7-factor structure of the 23QVS original scale and provide convincing evidence for the validity of the scale. The Russian version of the 23QVS has an internally consistent measure Cronbach's ? ,710 for the total scale, if item 7 is excluded from the original scale. Further research is needed to better understand the cross-cultural meanings and improve the potential of this scale.
