This paper addresses some of the major lines of development of research and teaching of archaeology in Oporto, first, since the early twentieth century until the reopening of the Faculty of Arts U. P. and later emphasizing the importance of this school in the creation of undergraduate and graduate studies in archaeology. Also noted is the role of the Faculty in developing innovative research projects and programs for the preservation, development and promotion of heritage.
