Podemos ambicionar um megacentro de biociências? : uma abordagem teórica

Based on the view of the ‘biotechnology revolution’, this paper will explore the disintegration process of the pharmaceutical industry’s value chain, and its realignment in the biosciences and biotechnology value chain focused on human health. Guided by the conceptual image of the ‘bioscience megacentres’, we will develop a theoretical framework highlighting the spatial dimensions. The main actors are identified and characterised, as well as their tendency to cluster and to structure hierarchical global networks.
