The diversified scenic richness offered by coastal Fishing Communities is worthy of a watchful look on its contemporaneity. This paper intends to characterize the small Fishing Communities of Northern Portugal. Based in statistic information the approach aims to identify the different aspects which may explain the decadence or the revitalization of these communities. These data were used as a basis for the edification of a “Strategy for Fishing Communities Integrated Development Policy”. Its implementation aims to achieve optimistic prospective scenarios regarding the role to be played by these local communities in the fishing sector, encompassing the economic, social and cultural valorization of the Portuguese coastline.
