In thepresentstudy,experimentalandanalyticalinvestigationsforthebehaviorofE-glassfiberrein- forced compositehybridizedwithalayerofKevlar29fiber,underhighvelocityimpact,wereperformed. The experimentalworkincludestheplacementoftheKevlarlayeratfourdifferentlocationstoverifythe effectsofthestackingsequenceontheimpactbehavior.Threedifferentprojectilegeometries,namely, flat-ended, hemisphericalandconicalwereused.Theexperimentalresultsrevealthathybridization improves thelaminatesperformanceunderdynamicpenetration.Theresultsalsoindicatethatthelam- inates responsewasfoundtobehighlysensitivetotheprojectilegeometry.Inthecaseofanalyticalmod- eling, twoenergymodelswereconductedtocalculatetheprojectileresidualvelocities.Theresults obtained fromthetwomodelswerecomparedwiththoseobtainedexperimentallyandsomeconclusions were drawn.
