Descrição
This paper presents some views, concepts and thoughts on the perspective of information science, about the use of blogs. Firstly, we discuss the exponential growing of blogs and the lack of precision on their definition. Secondly we reflect about blogs as an expression of the human desire to be heard and understood, the emerging of a new model of mass communication (Mass Self Communication), blogs as (technological) information systems, personal and institutional blogs. Finally, we analyse the blog on the field of information science, from information management, to other subjects as preservation, copyright, info-literacy, the use of blogs by information services and the advantages of blogs to information professionals.
