An experimentalandnumericalstudyofthetensilebehaviourofthree-dimensionalcarbon-epoxy adhesivelybondedstraprepairsispresented.Experimentally,thefailuremode,elasticstiffnessand strength wereevaluatedfordifferentoverlaplengthsandpatchthicknesses.Thenumericalsimulations, performedinABAQUSs, allowedobtainingtheelasticstiffnessandthepatchdebondingload,usedto understandtherepairsbehaviour.Theadhesivelayerwassimulatedwithcohesiveelementsincludinga mixed-modecohesivedamagemodelwithtrapezoidaltraction-separationlawsinpuremodesIandII, to accountfortheductilebehaviouroftheadhesiveused.Theselawsweredeterminedbyaninverse method,whichconsistsontheestimationofthecohesiveparameterswithafittingprocedureofthe experimentalandnumericalload–displacementcurvesoftherespectivefracturecharacterizationtest.
