The arousal of the world personal and collective consciousness towards Heritage, its symbolism, its degradation and loss, caused the emersion of Conservation and Restoration and turned it into a more and more sustainable, scientific, inter and transdisciplinary issue. The text rambles through its historicity, high-lighting personalities, theo-ries and principies, pointing out the contribution of ali sciences to its own growing and maturing process as one and stressing its crucial importance to the preservation and legacy of cultural identities.
