Description
A Ordem do Templo foi introduzida na Península Ibérica com o intuito de contribuir
para o fortalecimento do ideal e dos objetivos da Cruzada, constituindo, ainda, uma valiosa
aliada no povoamento e exploração do espaço reconquistado, enquadrando civil e
religiosamente as populações e participando ativamente na defesa das fronteiras do Condado
Portucalense, e no que veio a constituir-se como Reino de Portugal.
Com este trabalho, procura-se analisar um modelo de desenvolvimento turístico para
a cidade de Tomar com base no legado histórico dos templários, uma vez que se constitui num
dos seus conjuntos patrimoniais mais representativos ao nível europeu e onde a Ordem do
Templo deu lugar à Ordem de Cristo, permitindo que os templários continuassem a sua vida e
obra em Portugal na posse de todos os seus bens, contrariamente ao sucedido em quase todo o
mundo católico.
A metodologia utilizada neste estudo incluiu uma vasta recolha bibliográfica e a
utilização da Internet, bem como a avaliação do potencial turístico no que respeita à
inventariação e hierarquização dos recursos com base num trabalho de campo, onde foram
efetuadas algumas entrevistas para recolha de elementos que permitissem, com rigor, tomar
conhecimento das potencialidades que os recursos turísticos existentes poderão ter no
aumento da permanência dos turistas que afluem à cidade de Tomar. The Order of the Temple was introduced in the Iberian Peninsula in order to contribute
to the strengthening of the ideal and goals of the Crusade, and is also a valuable ally in the
settlement and exploration of space regained, framing civil and religious populations and
actively participating in defense of the frontiers of Portuguese County, and in what came to
constitute itself as the Kingdom of Portugal.
This work seeks to analyze a model of tourism development for the city of Tomar
based on historical legacy of the Templars, since it constitutes one of its most representative
property sets at an European level and where the Temple gave rise to the order of Christ,
allowing the Templars to continue their life and work in Portugal in possession of all their
properties, contrary to what occurred in almost the whole Catholic world.
The methodology used in this study included an extensive literature collection and the
use of the Internet, as well as an assessment of tourism potential regarding the inventory and
the hierarchization of resource based on fieldwork, where some interviews were conducted to
collect data to allow, accurately, the aware of the potential resources that may have on
