This paper aims to contribute to the problematization of the employability concept, namely by discussing its heuristic potential for the understanding of Portuguese labour market dynamics. Starting with a revision of national and international literature, we will then discuss the role companies can play in promoting employability both through continuous vocational training policies and through the forms of work organization they choose.
