Projecto de Graduação apresentado à Universidade Fernando Pessoa como parte dos requisitos para obtenção do grau Licenciada em Serviço Social Vários são os motivos que levam os idosos à procura da resposta estrutura residencial: a falta de saúde, a dependência funcional, a indisponibilidade familiar, a solidão e, para grande parte dos idosos, a procura da satisfação das suas necessidades básicas (e.g., alimentação, higiene, conforto).
No sentido de compreender e conhecer melhor a população idosa institucionalizada em Ponte de Lima, realizou-se um estudo cujo objetivo geral consistiu na aferição de múltiplas realidades institucionais, da valência estrutura residencial, no concelho Limiano.
Optámos por uma investigação híbrida, ou seja, quantitativa e qualitativa, com a intenção de analisar dados numéricos bem como as opiniões dos entrevistados.
Realizámos assim oito entrevistas a idosos integrados numa estrutura residencial e aplicámos um inquérito por questionário às Diretoras Técnicas das Instituições do Concelho.
Os resultados obtidos permitiram compreender o processo de integração numa estrutura residencial, os motivos da institucionalização, os contextos de vida, as vivências com os familiares e cuidadores formais e a satisfação com os serviços. Various are the reasons that compel the elderly to seek a residential structure solution: poor health, functional dependency, lack of availability on the part of the family, solitude and, for a large number, the need to for a response to basic necessities (e.g. nourishment, hygiene and comfort).
With the purpose of gaining greater knowledge and a better understanding of the institutionalized elderly people of Ponte de Lima, a study was carried out where the main goal consisted of assessing institutional realities providing a residential structure valence within the county Limiano. We opted to undertake a hybrid research approach, that is, both quantitative and qualitative, with the dual intention of analyzing the numerical data as well as the interviewees´ opinions.
We thus performed eight interviews with elderly people lodged in a residential structure and applied a survey questionnaires to the Technical Directors of the County´s Social Institutions.
The results uncovered allowed us to understand the process of integration in a residential structure, the motives of institutionalization, the life contexts, the interactions with family and care providers and also the level of satisfaction with the services provided.
